Series Recap: Philadelphia Phillies 8/4 - 8/6


The Dodgers took two of three from the Phillies in Philadelphia in this mid-week series.

Record | 62-46

Tuesday | Loss: The Dodgers lost to the Phillies 6-2. Offensively, the team did alright. Jimmy Rollins and Carl Crawford hit doubles and Andre Ethier and Carl Crawford had the RBI's of the night; Carl Crawford had a two out RBI. Alex Wood and Andre Ethier grounded into double plays and the team left thirteen men on base.

Defensively, the team didn't do the best. Jimmy Rollins had a fielding error at shortstop but the team turned a 5-4-3 double play. Alex Wood started the game and pitched 6.1 innings. He gave up four runs, eight hits, two walks and struck out eight batters. He was charged with the loss.

Wednesday | Win: The Dodgers beat the Phillies 4-3. Offensively, the team did okay. Yasiel Puig hit the only extra-base hit with a homerun. Yasiel Puig and Adrian Gonzalez had the RBI's of the evening; Puig had three of them, all two out RBI's. Brett Anderson grounded into a double play and the team left twelve men on base.

Defensively, the team did alright. Alberto Collaspo had a throwing error at third base while Adrian Gonzalez had a fielding error at first base. The Dodgers also turned a 6-4-3 double play. Brett Anderson started the game and pitched six innings. He gave up one run, four hits, two walks, and struck out five batters. He was awarded the win. Kenley Jansen pitched the ninth inning and recorded his twentieth save.

Thursday | Win: The Dodgers won against the Phillies 10-8. Offensively, the team did well. Andre Ethier, Yasmani Grandal, Jimmy Rollins, and Howie Kendrick all had doubles while Adrian Gonzalez and Zack Greinke both hit a homerun. Andre Ethier, Carl Crawford, Adrian Gonzalex, Zack Greinke, Howie Kendrick and Yasmani Grandal all hit RBI's; Andre Ethier, Carl Crawford, and Zack Greinke hit two-out RBI's. Yasmani Grandal hit a sacrifice fly, Carl Crawford grounded into a double play, and the team left six men on base.

Defensively, the Dodgers did okay. Zack Greinke had a throwing error and Adrian Gonzalez had an unassisted double play. Zack Greinke started the game and pitched six innings. He gave up six runs, seven hits, one homerun, two walks, and struck out eight batters. He was awarded the win. Kenley Jansen pitched the end of the ninth and recorded the save.

The Dodgers next series is against the Pittsburgh Pirates in Pittsburgh.
