Series Recap: Miami Marlins 5/11 - 5/13


The Dodgers could not complete the sweep against the Miami Marlins, only winning two of three games at home. Here is how the team did.

Record | 22-11

Monday | Win: The Dodgers beat the Marlins 5-3. Offensively, the Dodgers did pretty well. Howie Kendrick and Scott Van Slyke both hit doubles, while Scott Van Slyke also hit a homerun. Scott Van Slyke was only a triple shy of the cycle! Justin Turner, Scott Van Slyke, and Joc Pederson all had RBI's in this game; Pederson had a two-out RBI. Greinke also hit a sacrifice bunt. On the down side, Joc Pederson was caught stealing. The Dodgers left five men on base

Defensively, the team did pretty well. Scott Van Slyke had an outfield assist from left field and the Dodgers turned two double plays; a 6-4-3, and a 7-2. Zack Greinke started the game and pitched seven innings, gave up one run, six hits, one homerun, two walks, and struck out five batters! Yimi Garcia gave up the other two innings when he pitched the ninth. JP Howell pitched the final 0.1 innings, and was awarded the win.

Tuesday | Win: The Dodgers beat the Marlins 11-1 in an offensive show. Offensively, the Dodgers did extremely well. Alex Guerrero, Scott Van Slyke, and Adrian Gonzalez all had doubles, while Howie Kendrick and Andre Ethier had homeruns. Howie Kendrick, Andre Ethier, Adrian Gonzalez, Alex Guerrero, Yasmani Grandal, and Scott Van Slyke all had RBI's. Scott Van Slyke also hit a sacrifice fly during the game. The Dodgers also left twelve men on base.

Defensively, the Dodgers did very well; they held the Marlins to one run. The team turned a 1-4-3 double play. Mike Bolsinger started for the Dodgers, pitched 5.2 innings, gave up one run, five hits, one homerun, two walks and struck out three. He was awarded the win.

Wednesday | Loss: The Dodgers lost to the Marlins 5-4 after leading for a few innings. Offensively, the Dodgers did fairly well. Howie Kendrick hit a double and Alex Guerrero hit a triple. Kike Hernandez and Joc Pederson both hit homeruns. Kike Hernandez and Joc Pederson both had RBI's as well. However, Yasmani Grandal grounded into a double play and the team left three men on base.

Defensively, the Dodgers did well. Yasmani Grandal, however, did have a passed ball. On the bright side, the team turned an 8-3 double play. Carlos Frias started the game and pitched six innnings. He gave up three runs, six hits, walked one, and struck out five. Adam Liberatore came in for relief, didn't record an inning and gave up the lead by giving up two runs. He was charged with the loss.

The Dodgers next series is against the Colorado Rockies in Los Angeles.
