Series Recap: San Diego Padres 5/22 - 5/24
The Dodgers won their three game series with the Padres 2-1 after losing the final game 11-3. Here's how the weekend went.
Record | 26-17
Friday | Win: The Dodgers beat the Padres 2-1 in a very quiet ball game. Offensively, the Dodgers were quiet again, but still made enough of an impact to score some runs. Andre Ethier had a double and Joc Pederson had a homerun in the eighth inning. Both Andre Ethier and Joc Pederson had an RBI as well. Justin Turner also grounded into a double play and the team left four men on base.
Defensively, the team did well; only one run was given up. Zack Greinke started the game. He pitched 7.2 innings gave up one run, six hits, one alk and struck out five. Chris Hatcher pitched the last out of the eighth and was awarded the win. Kenley Jansen pitched the ninth and recorded a save.
Saturday | Win: The Dodgers beat the Padres 2-0. Offensively, the team wasn't loud but they got the job done. Justin Turner hit a double and Joc Pederson hit a homerun. Justin Turner and Joc Pederson both had RBI's as well. Jimmy Rollins had two stolen bases in the fifth inning. The Dodgers left four men on base.
Defensively, the Dodgers did very well. The team only faced the minimum 27 batters. The team turned a 4-6-3 double play in the first inning after the only hit was given up. Mike Bolsinger started the game and pitched 8 innings. He gave up only one hit and struck out eight batters. Kenley Jansen pitched the ninth inning and recorded another save.
Sunday | Loss: The Dodgers lost to the Padres 11-3. The offense was quiet. The only extra bases hit was a two-run homerun from Alex Guerrero; he also had the only RBI's. Both Howie Kendrick and Andre Ethier grounded into double plays. The Dodgers left two men on base.
Defensively, the Dodgers didn't do too well. There were some good plays but eleven runs were given up. Austin Barnes had a putout and Kike Hernandez had an outfield assist. The team also turned a 4-6-3 double play. Carlos Frias started the game and only pitched four innings. He gave up ten runs, twelve hits, two homeruns, two walks and didn't strike out one batter. He recorded the loss. The bullpen did a good job at surpressing the Padres offense, with Juan Nicasio giving up only one run in the eighth inning.
The Dodgers next series is against the Atlants Braves in Los Angeles.
