Series Recap: Arizona Diamondbacks 6/29 - 7/1


The Dodgers took two of three from the Diamonbacks in Arizona.

Record | 45-35

Monday | Loss: The Dodgers lost 10-6 against the Diamondbacks in a back and forth hitters duel. Offensively, the team did well. Andre Ethier had a double, while Joc Pederson, Yasmani Grandal, and Andre Ethier each hit a homerun. Andre Ethier, Joc Pederson, Yasmani Grandal, and Jimmy Rollins all had RBI's; Joc Pederson had a two-out RBI. However, Adrian Gonzalez grounded into a double play and the team left eleven men on base.

Defensively, the team did okay. Mike Bolsinger started the game and pitched only four innings. He gave up zero runs, three hits, and struck out four batters. Joel Peralta (1.0IP), Yimi Garcia (1IP), and Juan Nicasio (0.2IP) each gave up two runs. Pedro Baez pitched the bottom of the eighth and gave up four runs. He was charged with the loss.

Tuesday | Win (F/10): The Dodgers beat the Diamondback 6-4 in ten innings. Offensively, the team did pretty well. Yasiel Puig, Howie Kendrick, and Yasmani Grandal all hit doubles while Yasmani Grandal and Howie Kendrick hit homeruns. Yasmani Grandal and Howie Kendrick had the RBI's, and Yasmani Grandal had a two-out RBI. The team left eight men on base.

Defensively, the team did well. Andre Ethier and Scott Van Slyke had outfield assists and the team turned two double plays! The team turned a 5-3 double play and a 4-6-3 double play. Juan Nicasio also picked off a batter at first. Carlos Frias started the game and pitched five innings. He gave up three runs, seven hits, one homerun, three walks, and struck out one batter. Joel Peralta pitched the eighth inning and was awarded the win. Kenley Jansen pitched the ninth and recorded a save.

Wednesday | Win: The Dodgers won 4-3. Offensively, the team did alright. AJ Ellis, Kike Hernandez, and Justin Turner all had doubles, and Kike Hernandez also had a triple! Howie Kendrick, Kike Hernandez, and Justin Turner all had RBI's. Howie Kendrick had a sacrifice fly, and Jummy Rollins was caught stealing. Brett Anderson grounded into a double play and the team left eight men on base.

Defensively, the Dodgers did well. The team turned a 4-3 double play and Brett Anderson had a pick off at first base. Brett Anderson started the game and pitched seven innings. He gave up one run, seven hits, one homerun, two walks, and struck out seven batters. He was awarded the win. Kenley Jansen pitched the ninth inning and recorded a save.

The Dodgers next series is against the New York Mets in Los Angeles.
