Series Recap: St. Louis Cardinals 6/4 - 6/7


The Dodgers could not tie the series with the Cardinals and won only one game out of four. Here is how the series went.

Record | 32-25

Thursday | Loss: The Dodgers lost to the Cardinals 7-1. Offensively, the team was quite and only held to one run. Joc Pederson and Adrian Gonzalez had doubles while Alex Guerrero had the lone RBI. Carlos Frias had a sacrifice bunt and Alex Guerrero had a sacrifice fly. The team left eight men on base.

Defensively, the team didn't do too well. Justin Turner had a fielding error; but Andre Ethier had an outfield assist and Carlos Frias picked someone off. Carlos Frias started the game and pitched 6.2 innings. He gave up five runs, ten hits, three walks, and struck out three batters.

Friday | Loss: The Dodgers lost 2-1. Offensively, the team was quite again; there were no extra-base hits. Joc Pederson had the only RBI. Jimmy Rollins grounded into a double play and the team left six men on base.

Defensively, the team did better; holding the Cardinals to only two runs. The Dodgers turned a 3-6 double play. Brett Anderson started the game and pitched 7.2 innings. He gave up two runs, four hits, three walks, and struck out five batters. He was charged with the loss.

Saturday | Win: The Dodgers beat the Cardinal 2-0. Although the Dodgers won, the offense wasn't the best. Chris Heisey and Yasiel Puig both had doubles. Yasiel Puig and Justin Turner had the two RBI's for the team. AJ Ellis had a sacrifice bunt, and Jimmy Rollins, Chris Heisey, and Kike Hernandez all grounded into double plays. The team left two men on base.

Defensively, the Dodgers did pretty well. The team turned a 4-6-3 double play. Clayton Kershaw started the game and pitched eight innings. He gave up one hit, two walks and struck out eleven. He was awarded the win. Kenley Jansen pitched the ninth inning and recorded a save.

Sunday | Loss: The Dodgers lost 4-2 to the Cardinals. The offense struck early but was mainly quiet; gathering only seven hits total. Justin Turner hit a double and had the two RBI's for the game; both were two out RBI's. Andre Ethier had a stolen base, but the team left six men on base.

Defensively, the Dodgers did okay. Yasiel Puig had an error in right field but the team turned a 1-6 double play. Zack Greinke started the game and pitched 6.2 innings. He gave up one run, six hits, one homerun, one walk and struck out eight batters. Juan Nicasio pitched the beginning of the eighth after Adam Liberatore gave up a walk at the top of the inning. Juan Nicasio gave up two runs and three hits; he was charged with the loss.

The Dodgers next series is against the Arizona Diamondbacks in Los Angeles.
