NLDS Game 1 Recap

Well game 1 of the NLDS is complete! The Mets beat the Dodgers 3-1 in a pitcher's duel. Here is how it turned out (Mets are on the top, Dodgers are on the bottom):

The game got off to a slow start. The Mets got on the board first with a solo homerun in the fourth. Then David Wright hit a two-out two-run RBI single in the seventh inning. The Dodgers were quiet all the way until the eighth inning when Adrian Gonzalez hit an RBI single knocking in Howie Kendrick. However, they could not rally further and only scored the one run. Clayton Kershaw pitched 6.2 innings, gave up three runs, four hits, one homerun, four walks, and struck out eleven batters. Zack Greinke will start for the Dodgers tomorrow.

Vin Scully in 2016


It is official!! The Dodgers announced today that Hall of Fame broadcaster Vin Scully will be returning for the 2016 season, his 67th season with the organization! Earlier this week, he had announced that he was still undecided on returning; looking at his health, family, and the organization. However, it looks like everything lined up for a 2016 return.

Series Recap: Philadelphia Phillies 8/4 - 8/6


The Dodgers took two of three from the Phillies in Philadelphia in this mid-week series.

Tuesday | Loss: The Dodgers lost to the Phillies 6-2. Offensively, the team did alright. Jimmy Rollins and Carl Crawford hit doubles and Andre Ethier and Carl Crawford had the RBI's of the night; Carl Crawford had a two out RBI. Alex Wood and Andre Ethier grounded into double plays and the team left thirteen men on base.

Defensively, the team didn't do the best. Jimmy Rollins had a fielding error at shortstop but the team turned a 5-4-3 double play. Alex Wood started the game and pitched 6.1 innings. He gave up four runs, eight hits, two walks and struck out eight batters. He was charged with the loss.

Wednesday | Win: The Dodgers beat the Phillies 4-3. Offensively, the team did okay. Yasiel Puig hit the only extra-base hit with a homerun. Yasiel Puig and Adrian Gonzalez had the RBI's of the evening; Puig had three of them, all two out RBI's. Brett Anderson grounded into a double play and the team left twelve men on base.

Defensively, the team did alright. Alberto Collaspo had a throwing error at third base while Adrian Gonzalez had a fielding error at first base. The Dodgers also turned a 6-4-3 double play. Brett Anderson started the game and pitched six innings. He gave up one run, four hits, two walks, and struck out five batters. He was awarded the win. Kenley Jansen pitched the ninth inning and recorded his twentieth save.

Thursday | Win: The Dodgers won against the Phillies 10-8. Offensively, the team did well. Andre Ethier, Yasmani Grandal, Jimmy Rollins, and Howie Kendrick all had doubles while Adrian Gonzalez and Zack Greinke both hit a homerun. The Dodgers split their four game series with the Mets in New York.

Thursday | Win: The Dodgers beat the Mets 3-0. Offensively, the team did pretty well. Jimmy Rollins had the only extra-base hit which was a homerun. Jimmy Rollins, Alberto Collaspo and Yasiel Puig had the RBI's of the evening. Yasiel Puig hit a sacrifice fly while Joc Pederson, Andre Ethier, and Yasiel Puig all grounded into double plays. The team left four men on base.

Defensively, the team did very well. Clayton Kershaw picked off a runner at first base. Clayton Kershaw started the game and pitched a complete game shutout. He gave up only three its and struck out eleven batters. He was awarded the win.

Friday | Win: The Dodgers win 7-2 against the Mets. Offensively, the team did very well. Justin Turner, Joc Pederson and Austin Barnes all had doubles while Justin Turner, Yasiel Puig, and Jimmy Rollins had homeruns. Yasiel Puig, Joc Pederson, Justin Turner, and Jimmy Rollins had the RBI's of the game; Joc Pederson had a two-out RBI. Ian Thomas grounded into a double play and the team left five men on base.

Defensively, the team did well. The Dodgers turned two double plays; a 3-6-3 double play and a 5-4-3 double play. Ian Thomas started the game and pitched five innings. He gave up one run, three hits and struck out five batters. He was awarded the win.

Saturday | Loss: The Dodgers lost to the Mets 15-2. Offensively, the team was pretty cold. Joc Pederson had the only extra-base hit with a double. Jimmy Rollins and Joc Pederson had the RBI's of the evening; Jimmy Rollins had a two-out RBI. The team left five men on base.

Defensively, the Dodgers didn't do too well. However Joc Pederson had an outfield assist and the team did turn a 4-3 double play. Zack Lee started the game and pitched only 4.2 innings. He gave up seven runs, eleven hits, one homerun, one walk and struck out three. He was charged with the loss.

Sunday | Loss: The Dodgers lost 3-2 to the Mets. Offensively, the team didn't do that well. Adrian Gonzalez both had doubles, the only extra base hits of the day. Justin Turner and Yasmani Grandal had the RBI's of the game and Scott Van Slyke hit a sacrifice bunt. Jimmy Rollins had a stolen base and the team left six men on base.

Defensively, the Dodgers did alright. Joc Pederson had a fielding error but Andre Ethier had an outfield assist. The team also turned two double plays; a 7-4-3 double play and a 6-3 double play. Zack Greinke started the game and pitched seven innings.He gave up two runs (breaking his scoreless streak), four hits, three walks, and struck out two batters. Juan Nicasio pitched the tenth inning and gave up the winning run; he was charged with the loss.

Series Recap: Washington Nationals 7/17 - 7/19


The Dodgers win their first series after the All-Star break!

Friday | Loss: The Dodgers lost to the Nationals 5-3. The game was suspended until Saturday morning due to stadium lighting issues. Offensively, the team didn't do too well. The only extra-base hits were homeruns from Adrian Gonzalez. He also had all three of the RBI's. The team left seven men on base.

Defensively, the team didn't do the best either. Mike Bolsinger had a throwing error. Mike Bolsinger started the game and pitched only four innings. He gave up one run, two hits, two walks, and struck out two batter. Pedro Baez pitched the final inning, gave up the winning runs and was charged with the loss.

Saturday | Win: The Dodgers won 4-2 against the Nationals. Offensively, the team did much better. Adrian Gonzalez had the only extra-base hit again with a double while Yasiel Puig, Justin Turner, and Andre Ethier had the RBI's of the afternoon; Yasiel Puig had a two-out RBI. Andre Ethier had a sacrifice fly while AJ Ellis grounded into a double play. Joc Pederson was caught stealing and the team left twelve men on base.

Defensively, the team did well. Justin Turner had a throwing error at third base. Clayton Kershaw started the game and pitched eight scoreless innings against the Nationals. He gave up only three hits and struck out fourteen batters. He was awarded the win.

Sunday | Win: The Dodgers beat the Nationals 5-0. Offensively, the team did well. Andre Ethier had the only extra-base hit with a double while Andre Ethier, AJ Ellis and Yasiel Puig had the RBI's of the night. Yasmani Grandal and Howie Kendrick hit sacrifice bunts and the team left thirteen men on base.

The Dodgers ended the first half of the season on a high note against the Milwaukee Brewers.

Defensively, the team did well. Brett Anderson started the game and pitched seven innings; he also had a pick off. He allowed one run, five hits, one walk, and struck out ten batters. He was awarded the win.

Trade Alert: Dodgers Trade with the Braves


It's a sad day in Dodgertown; Juan Uribe has officially been traded to the Atlanta Braves. The deal was sealed today after days of on and off reports.

The deal included Chris Withrow from the Dodgers; and the Dodgers received four players from the Braves



Many fans shared their sadness over Uribe leaving, as it was clear that he was a major player in the clubhouse chemistry equation. PLayers took to Twitter to share their feelings over the trade.




It is also important to note that the Dodgers will still be hosting Juan Uribe Bobblehead night on July 11.

Offensively the team did fairly well, they just couldn't get ahead of the Rockies. Jimmy Rollins, Adrian Gonzalez, Andre Ethier, and Brett Anderson all had doubles. Adrian Gonzalez, Brett Anderson and Yasmani Grandal had RBI's; Grandal had a two-out RBI. Justin Turner had a stolen base while Adrian Gonzalez was caught stealing. The team left 10 men on base.

Defensively, the team did alright. Jimmy Rollins had a fielding error at shortstop. Brett Anderson started for the Dodgers he pitched 5.1 innings (up until the rain delay), gave up two runs, five hits, one homerun, one walk and struck out eight. Yimi Garcia, who pitched the ninth inning, gave up the other three runs and was given the loss.

Sergio Santos came in and pitched two innings, he gave up five of the seven runs. Paco pitched the ninth and gave up the seventh run. He gave up three runs, six hits, walked one, and struck out five. Adam Liberatore came in for relief, didn't record an inning and gave up the lead by giving up two runs. He was charged with the loss.

Series Recap: Colorado Rockies 5/8 - 5/10


The Dodgers had an interesting road trip in Colorado; playing only a game and a half with one of them being postponed entirely. 

Record | 20-10

Friday | Win (F/6): The Dodgers beat the Rockies 2-1, after 5.1 innings of play. The game was called due to rain. Offensively, the Dodgers did pretty well. Adrian Gonzalez had a double and Joc Pederson stole second base. Adrian Gonzalez and Yasmani Grandal both had RBI's and Grandal also had a sacrifice fly. Jimmy Rollins was caught stealing, Uribe grounded into a double play, and the team left five men on base.

Defensively, the Dodgers had one error by Alex Guerrero however the team also turned a 4-6-3 double play. Brett Anderson pitched all 5 innings and, technically, pitched a complete game. This complete game is the first of the 2015 season. He gave up one run, six hits, one walk and struck out one.

Saturday | Postponed: Saturday night's game was cancelled due to rain in Colorado. Instead, per the Dodgers, they will play a day-night double header, 12:10pm/5:40pm PT, in Colorado to make up the game.

Sunday | Win: The Dodgers beat the Rockies 9-5 after giving up five runs in the fourth inning. Offensively, the team did well; mostly after the fifth inning. Alex Guerrero and Adrian Gonzalez both had doubles while Justin Turner hit a two run homerun. Kike Hernandez, AJ Ellis, Adrian Gonzalez, Justin Turner and Howie Kendrick all had RBI's in this game; AJ Ellis' RBI was a two-out RBI. Ellis also had a sacrifice bunt while Gonzalez hit a sacrifice fly. Ellis also hit into double play and the team left eight men on base.

Defensively, the team faired well. There were no errors but balls were hit into gaps allowing the Rockies to score five runs off of starter Clayton Kershaw. Kershaw pitched 5.2 innings, gave up five runs, eight hits, four walks and struck out five batters. Baez came in after him, pitched 1.1 innings, gave up one hit and struck out one; he was also awarded the win.

The Dodgers next series is against the Miami Marlins in Los Angeles.

Series Recap: Milwaukee Brewers 5/4 - 5/7


The Dodgers split this series with the Milwaukee Brewers down the middle, 2-2. When they won, they ran away with it but when they lost it was somewhat to pretty close. Here's how it turned out.

Record | 18-10

Monday | Loss: On Monday the Dodgers lost 4-3 after leading the Brewers up until the 8th inning. Offensively, Yasmani Grandal was hot. Grandal had a double and two singles. Joc Pederson also hit a homerun in this game and Adrian Gonzalez was hit by a pitch. Joc Pederson, Yasmani Grandal and Juan Uribe all had RBI's in this game and the Dodgers left nine men on base.

Defensively, the Dodgers had one error, Kershaw made an error trying to pick off a runner. Kershaw pitched 7.1 innings, gave up three runs, five hits, one home run, and struck out eight. Chris Hatcher came in for relief, gave up the fourth run and was charged with the loss.

Tuesday | Win: The Dodgers beat the Brewers 8-2 and Zack Greinke is still undefeated! Offensively, the Dodgers did very well. Yasmani Grandal and Zack Greinke both had doubles while Justin Turner, Jimmy Rollins, and Adrian Gonzalez each hit a homerun. Justin Tunrner, Jimmy Rollins, and Adrian Gonzalez al had RBI's as well. The Dodgers left seven men on base.

Defensively, the Dodgers had only one error and a double play. Joc Pederson had a fielding error while the team also turned a 5-4-3 double play. Greinke pitched 7.2 innings and gave up one run, two hits, two walks and struck out seven. Pedro Baez came in to pitch the last out of the 8th and didn't give up anything. Daniel Coulumbe closed the ninth and gave up one run, one hit and one walk.

Wednesday | Loss: The Dodgers lost to the Brewers 6-3, after the Brewers scored five runs in the first inning. Offensively, the Dodgers didn't do the best. Adrian Gonzalez hit a double and Joc Pederson hit another homerun! Joc Pederson was the only Dodger to hit an RBI and the team left four men on base throughout the game. Also, Scott Van Slyke grounded into a double play.

Defensively, the Dodgers did well, there were no errors but the Brewers did score five runs in the first inning. Joe Wieland started for the Dodgers and pitched 4.2 innings. He gave up all six runs, six hits, two homeruns, four walks and struck out two batters. He was charged with the loss.

Thursday | Win: The Dodgers beat the Brewers 14-4. Offensively, the Dodgers were on fire. Kike Hernandez hit a double, Andre Ethier hit a triple, and Alex Guerrero and Yasmani Grandal both hit a homerun; Grandal hit two! Alex Guerrero, Andre Ethier, Adrian Gonzalez, Yasmani Grandal, and Joc pederson all had RBI's; Yasmani Grandal and Joc Pederson both had two-out RBI's. Adrian Gonzalez and Kike Hernandez also grounded into double plays. Also, the Dodgers left eight men on base.

Defensively, the Dodgers did very well. There were no errors and they held the Brewers to four runs. Carlos Frias started for the Dodgers, pitched four innings, gave up three runs, six hits, one homerun, one walk and struck out six batters.

The Dodgers next series is against the Colorado Rockies in Colorado.
